Description Our grape arbor had only one exceptional year, when the grapes were plump and beautifully backlit by the afternoon sun just as they ripened. I had to paint them with that lovely contrast of tourmaline greens and reds glowing almost like stained glass. This painting still reminds me of the spicy scent of ripe grapes and the buzzing of late summer insects.
